Meet the Team
Andrew Ramsarran
Founder/Executive Director
Andrew Ramsarran is the Founder and Executive Director of ACT 1, a nonprofit theatre organization dedicated to helping children and teens discover their voices through performing arts education and meaningful onstage experiences. An educator, theatre professional, and United States Air Force veteran, Andrew brings a service-driven approach to leadership, mentorship, and youth development.
Andrew holds four master’s degrees in education, leadership, and nonprofit-focused fields, reflecting a deep commitment to lifelong learning and thoughtful, ethical leadership. His professional work sits at the intersection of education, the arts, and youth development, where he designs programs that balance artistic excellence with social-emotional growth.
Throughout his career, Andrew has worked extensively with young people who enter rehearsal rooms unsure of themselves, hesitant to take risks, or doubting their abilities. He is especially passionate about helping students build confidence, find peace through creative expression, and recognize their own potential. His teaching and directing philosophy centers on creating safe, inclusive environments where students feel seen, supported, and encouraged to grow both onstage and offstage.
Through ACT 1, Andrew is committed to expanding access to high-quality theatre education, particularly for students and communities that have experienced reduced arts funding or limited opportunities. His leadership is grounded in the belief that theatre is not only a performance art, but a powerful tool for self-discovery, confidence-building, and lifelong personal development.
