About Our Intensive
-
Our program runs from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
We also offer before care beginning at 7:00 AM and aftercare until 5:00 PM for families who need extended hours.
-
Our rehearsals take place at Somerset Parkland Academy, providing a structured and supportive environment for our students to grow.
All performances are held at Coral Springs Charter School, giving students the opportunity to showcase their work in a wonderful theatre setting!
-
At Act 1, we believe theatre is more than performance it’s a tool for growth!
We are committed to developing confident, disciplined, and compassionate young performers through a culture built on:
Excellence – We hold high standards while supporting every student’s journey
Creativity – We encourage bold choices and authentic expression
Character – We teach respect, responsibility, and teamwork
Confidence – We help students find their voice—on and off the stage
These values guide everything we do, from rehearsal to performance.
-
Act 1 was created to provide a structured, high-quality theatre experience where students are both challenged and supported every step of the way.
Our program is led by certified educators and experienced theatre professionals who understand how to work with students at all levels, from beginners stepping on stage for the first time to experienced performers who want to grow.
We focus on the full development of each child. Through rehearsals and performances, students build essential skills such as confidence, public speaking, teamwork, discipline, and responsibility. These are skills that carry far beyond the stage.
Our rehearsals are organized, intentional, and designed to maximize both learning and enjoyment. Students are guided through a clear process that includes audition preparation, character development, staging, and performance techniques.
At Act 1, we hold high expectations while creating a positive and encouraging environment where every student feels valued, included, and proud of their work.

Yes. Students will audition to be accepted into the program.
Once accepted, the first week of the intensive focuses on building skills in acting, singing, and dancing, as well as learning proper audition techniques.
At the end of the first week, students will audition again, and the show will be cast based on their growth, effort, and performance throughout the week.
-
We cast each show based on the needs of the script and production.
While we do not add or create additional roles, there are opportunities for all cast members to be involved. Students cast in the ensemble will often play multiple roles throughout the show.
Our goal is to stay true to the original production while making sure every student has a meaningful experience on stage.
-
The summer intensive is a fast-paced, three-week program that requires consistent attendance.

A detailed schedule, including rehearsal times and performance dates, will be provided upon acceptance into the program.

We understand that unexpected situations may arise. If a student must miss a rehearsal, please communicate with us as soon as possible.
However, due to the fast-paced nature of the program, excessive absences may impact a student’s role or participation in certain parts of the production.
