Why We Chose This Show

A story about kids who discover their differences are their strength

The Lightning Thief follows Percy Jackson — a kid who’s been told he’s too distracted,         too difficult, too different — as he learns those exact traits are what make him a hero. For a youth         theatre company built on the belief that every child deserves their moment, no story could         be a better fit.

Identity

The show is built on a hopeful, radical idea: the traits that make Percy feel out of           place — restless, distracted, different — turn out to be the signs of who he truly is. That’s           the belief we want every performer to carry off our stage.

Found Family

Percy never saves the world alone. The musical only works as a true ensemble — which           is exactly how we want young actors to grow: trusting each other, sharing the spotlight, and discovering           that the strongest performances are built together.

The Challenge

A driving contemporary score, sharp comedy, and real emotional stakes give our 14–18           performers material worth rising to. It asks them to act, sing, and commit at a pre-professional level —           and rewards every bit of the effort with a story today’s audiences love.

“We didn’t just choose a musical. We chose a story big enough for young people to grow into.”
